Rainbow Library

The Rainbow Library was set up in Feb 2013 as part of ReaditDaddy’s ReaditMummiesandDaddies2013 campaign and International Book Giving day.

The Rainbow Library is based in East Sussex and aims to get good quality books into the hands and hearts of the children who need them most. It supports local nurseries and schools with catchment from deprived areas by providing books to help them update or create their own libraries, as well as resources such as story sacks, activity sheets and reading sessions.

The first Rainbow Library was set up in Feb 2013 as a bookbox in a Peacehaven nursery. A lot of the children from the nursery had no access to books at home and the library made a huge difference to their families. It is still going strong. You can read about why I set it up here.

In September 2013 The Rainbow Library expanded to include a nursery and school in Brighton in desperate need of quality and contemporary books. The children relish their library and it is thriving!

Now there are 6 Rainbow Libraries, with the most recent addition in 2017 – Peacehaven Little Library, supplying books for children, teens and young adults in my community.

I really value all the support and generosity from publishers, authors, illustrators, friends, and fellow booky peeps. Your book donations keep the project going and make a daily difference to children’s lives. Thank you!

I plan to keep expanding and supporting children who would benefit from access to quality books. If you know of a school, nursery or community group in East Sussex that would benefit from support, please get in touch.
